Do You Know When to Stop?
Avoid burnout with simple stress-management techniques
It’s so weird to feel awful when you should feel great! As if your own emotions were betraying you — can’t they know that now is the time to celebrate and not to be down? You have it all, and you know it and life finally seems to work out! You are at your peak! You’re doing great! You’re successful!
The opportunities are endless, your motivation is sky-high, all your friends are high-achievers too — and it pays off! You are doing great, finally, it seems that everything is as it should be. Years and years of work and struggle — now it’s not the time to quit, just one more week, just one more month, just one more project, just until… until when?
It is terribly dangerous to be an high-achiever, especially if you are good at what you do, and especially if your hard work is finally paying off. You instinctively gravitate toward extreme jobs, with exceptionally long work hours and high pressure. You learn quickly and you are excellent at managing your projects and time, therefore you usually do more than your peers in a shorter time. You are pushing yourself to excel at everything, and because you are intelligent and creative — you excel at everything you start investing time and energy in.
