How to Get and Stay Inspired Every Day on Your Terms

Do you know those sweet rare days where you look around and everything speaks to you, beg you to think them over, scream you to write about them, to design them, to create something of them. You walk down the street and you see a piece of crumpled paper that reminds you of your first crush, and in rapid succession of random thoughts you have several articles ideas, you built an army of characters for your next novel — and your day is only beginning.

How amazing the human mind is! We pick up morsels of information, we combine them and create something out of thin air.

On good days.

I don’t know about you, but I have these good days very infrequently. I cannot conjure them up, I cannot make them happen. They happen onto me, without me being in charge at all.

But I have to write even on days when there is no inspiration whatsoever. Not a morsel, no great ideas, no brilliant thoughts. Nothing.

None of us, writers have the luxury to work only on days when we are inspired. Nothing would ever get written, there would be no finished books, no blogs, no articles. Writing consists of more than just being inspired. It is about discipline and hard work, and grit to get through the…
