Who is at fault with the Instagram-poll induced Malaysian suicide?

I am really starting to lose faith in humanity. Some days it’s worse than the rest. Peeking out from my safe and secure life, some events in the world make me wonder whether we are a lost cause.

On Monday, a 16-year-old Malaysian girl committed suicide after seeing the results of the Instagram poll she had created.

“Really Important, Help Me Choose D/L”

69% of her fans voted D (death).

5 hours later she jumped to her death.

This is so wrong on so many levels.

A whole lot of finger pointing is going around following the tragedy.

The Malaysian police are looking for the voters, as abetting suicide is a crime in Malaysia and those found guilty might face the death penalty or up to 20 years of prison time.

Instagram is blamed as the surface that allowed this to happen.

The parents are blamed for not noticing the signs.

The girl is blamed for such a stupid move.

And reading more and more articles about it, my heart is breaking.

I fail to understand it.
