What is your ‘whatever’?

I never thought it was possible to make a living off writing. I never thought you could even make any money off it. Sure, I heard about bestselling authors and by buying their books with millions of others I knew that someone is making big money just by typing words. I saw influencers and influencer-motivation-speaker-rockstars making money related to writing. I noticed that there are a few select ones who can do it.

But the rest of us? Nah.

I bought into the starving artist idea — and somehow I cherished and nurtured this concept as if art would have a bigger value if it’s unpaid. As if monetising your talent would somehow take away the real value of it. But then… I call bullshit.

Writing has countless forms — and while not all of them will be lucrative for everyone there are ways to make money off writing. Now more than ever.

The only question is: do you have it in you to do whatever it takes to become a full-time writer?

From what I have seen, there are quite a few ingredients to the success-recipe, but just like with haute cuisine, the quality ingredients are not enough if the chef is not ready
