Each and every healing journey is different, with different origins, different processes, and a different pace. But there is one thing that is common in all: the need of processing and letting go of some past event that hinders you in the present.

No matter what you need to heal from, there comes a point in your journey when looking backwards and trying to find reason and explanation don’t serve you anymore. There comes a moment when you realize that you need to let it all go and shift your focus to something more beneficial, more hopeful, and more progressive. There comes a time when you see that you cannot carry on living and identifying with your past self because it’s not you anymore and you need more than being just a shell.

When I started to write on Medium, my primary focus was on the abusive relationship I had had, the lessons I learned, and the anger and frustration I had to process. I wanted to share my story to give guidance to others going through something similar, but also to use writing as a healing method, to use the words as vessels that will help me carry the unprocessed emotions out of my system.

It was a great journey. Painful but hopeful. Very liberating. Very creative…
