Revenge Porn is Not About Revenge

It’s a sexual assault. Let’s call it such!

I have been putting off an important phone call. It’s been a week now. I know I have to do it and it goes way beyond my regular procrastination fuelled by the truth that I don’t like making phone calls.

I have a reason. It’s a terrible one. He’s not just an ex-colleague. He was my boss and our last conversation a year ago was a messenger message from him in the middle of the night, telling me that someone had sent a naked picture of me to the company’s Facebook page. He sent me a screenshot and then deleted it. He asked if he could help. And he said he was sorry that I am going through this.

By the time he sent me this message, a distant friend had reached out to me that a friend of a friend saw an album of me on two porn sites, with my name and facebook profile picture.

Sending out links to the albums stopped when I managed to take the albums off. Dealing with two ex-bosses who received the images of me — not a walk in the park.

Being threatened to be exposed, even more, I opened up about it, and publicly announced on Facebook that I was a victim of it, and if anyone receives anything about me, they should let me know and send me screenshots, for I am pressing charges. For revenge porn.
