The Golden Days Are Happening Now
Stop looking back and embrace today, as this is all you have
When almost 20 years ago I first set foot in an advertising agency, it blew my mind, it was great and brilliant and glamorous. It wasn’t all fun and laughter, I, for one, worked my ass off to get acknowledged, to be allowed to meet my client face to face, to go to a film shooting where the magic happened and I could meet both the Nesquick rabbit and the Coca-Cola Santa Claus at the same time.
Good times, right? Those were the golden days.
The sparkle in my eyes never faded, my enthusiasm was at its strongest peak, and I was I love with what I was doing.
Until someone told me that the golden days were over.
It happened almost right in front of my eyes, but you know what, I was just a bit too late. Some said, had I arrived a year ago, I could have seen the opportunities, the budgets, the money, the courage from the clients. They actually meant the huge parties that were paid by client money that I was never invited to, the film shooting that must have been done at the Caribbean that was just done a year before so I missed the free beach time, and the endless lines of coke that I missed to snort.
