We were driving, heading to our little Airbnb flat by Lake Como in Northern Italy, towards the end of our road trip, driving back home from Spain. It’s been an utter delight — the days, the nights, the drives. The beaches just as much as the mountains, the supermarket runs equally as the fancy restaurants. We never let go of each other’s hand; we talked and laughed; we lay in the sun and strolled in cute little Mediterranean towns, and I just couldn’t believe my luck. I was so grateful to have met this extraordinary person, to have gotten to know him, to fall in love with him, and to see how he is reciprocating all my efforts. To have someone by my side who is supportive and caring, loving and interested — not to mention crazy handsome, and tall. Not that it matters if he is tall or not, but he is.

So, we were driving, or to be precise, he was driving, my tall, handsome boyfriend, and we were chatting and talking, and we missed the exit from the tunnel, around the lake. Not once, but actually twice, which meant a 40-minute delay, and we missed the sunset that we had scheduled our arrival around.
