What Kind of Writer Do You Want to Become?

Be yourself and write anyway

I thought that the most difficult part of writing was to finally share my work with the world. This was the monster I was afraid of the most at a certain time. But when I started to do it with more or less success, it became easier as I went. It was still hard to convince myself that my words might matter to others, that I can say something interesting to read — but it was less and less difficult to put myself out in the world after the initial crippling fear.

Then I thought that maintaining consistency was the most difficult part. Because it is hard to establish a writing habit and stick to it. It is difficult to write without motivation and it’s tough to make yourself write when you feel you have nothing noteworthy to say. But writing is just another habit. Just like a morning routine, regular exercising or discipline to do your tasks around the house. You just do it and even when you fall off the wagon, it is possible — even if not easy — to get back and start over again.

Then I thought that finding topics and ideas to write about was the hardest. After the initial rush of ideas, when I ran out of things to say I felt that finding just another article idea is the most terrifying thing to do. And yes, it’s tough. But not impossible.
